Ground Bolts Available at Fenceonline
A ground bolt is a practical tool for various types of gates, most commonly used on double gates to keep one of the two gate wings securely in place. It ensures that the garden gate stays firmly positioned, preventing it from swinging open or shut due to the wind. This helps keep everything safe and secure.
Typically, a ground bolt is inserted into the ground. To do this, you need to dig a hole that fits the bolt precisely. In some cases, a stopper is also used to properly secure the bolt when closed.
Types of Ground Bolts
At Fenceonline, we offer different types of ground bolts from the Locinox brand. Our range includes manual, electric, internal and lockable ground bolts. Some models even allow you to use the same key for both the lock and the ground bolt.
It is crucial that the bolt is sturdy. A ground bolt is simply a useful addition to any gate. While one bolt per gate is usually sufficient, in some cases, using two is advisable. By installing two ground bolts, both gate doors can be secured, keeping them open even in windy conditions.
Ground Stop
A ground stop helps ensure that a gate stays properly closed. It prevents the gate from twisting or misaligning when it shuts. Ground stops are usually fixed in concrete, but in some cases, they can be screwed into the ground, such as on stone surfaces.
We offer various sizes of ground stops, both large and small, all of which are readily available from stock at Fenceonline.
Installing a Ground Bolt
Installing a ground bolt is simple! The exact installation method depends on the type of ground bolt you have. Fortunately, every ground bolt comes with an instruction manual in the box, allowing you to quickly start mounting it onto your gate or door. You can also find the installation guide online on the product page.
In most cases, you will need to drill a few holes into the gate frame or door, as instructed in the manual. Then, simply screw the ground bolt into place using the supplied screws. The Locinox surface-mounted ground bolts are particularly popular due to their ease of installation, thanks to the included QUICK-FIX system.
Ground bolts can also be easily added later to a gate, fence door or garage door. It is best to install them at the bottom edge of the gate or door for optimal functionality.
