Ground Bolts Available at Fenceonline

A ground bolt is a handy accessory for various types of gates. They are most commonly used for double gates to keep one of the two gate leaves securely in place. A ground bolt ensures your garden gate stays firmly positioned, preventing it from swinging open or shut due to wind. This keeps everything safe and in place.

Typically, a ground bolt is inserted into the ground. To do this, you’ll need to dig a hole that fits the bolt precisely. Sometimes, a stopper is used to secure the bolt properly when closed.

Types of Ground Bolts

At  Fenceonline, we offer a variety of ground bolts from the Locinox brand. These include manually operated, electric, internal, and lockable ground bolts. Some models even allow you to use the same key for both the gate lock and the ground bolt.

It’s essential for the bolt to be sturdy. Ground bolts are incredibly practical usually, one is sufficient per gate, but in some cases, using two is advisable. With two ground bolts, both doors can be secured, ensuring they remain open even on windy days.

Ground Stops

A ground stop is another useful accessory to keep a gate securely closed. It prevents the gate from swinging incorrectly when it closes. Typically, a ground stop is set in concrete, but in some cases, it can be screwed onto a hard surface, such as paving stones.

We offer various types of ground stops in both small and large sizes. All are available from stock at  Fenceonline.

Installing a Ground Bolt

Installing a ground bolt is simple! The method depends on the type of bolt you choose. Fortunately, each ground bolt comes with an instruction manual in the box, allowing you to get started quickly. You can also find the manual online on the product page.

Typically, you’ll need to drill a few holes in the gate frame or door as instructed in the manual. Next, the ground bolt is secured using the included screws. The Locinox surface-mounted ground bolts are especially popular due to their ease of installation with the included QUICK-FIX system.

Ground bolts can also be easily added later to a gate, fence door, or garage door. It’s usually best to attach them at the bottom edge of the gate or door.
