What is a Gabion?
A gabion (also known as a stone cage) is a basket made of welded steel wires connected with posts (also called profiles). For a gabion fence, twin wire mesh fencing is often used, which is thermally galvanised. The gabion can then be filled with strong and heavy materials, usually stones. The combination of the wire construction and the filling material makes it a robust and durable structure. Gabions are filled with natural materials, making them a sustainable investment.

Since gabions are filled with natural materials, they provide little to no visibility into the garden. They can be filled with wood, but are mostly filled with stone. When used as stone-filled baskets, they are referred to as stone gabions. These stones are typically natural stone chunks. Gabion fences suit any garden and blend well with different architectural styles.

Installing a Gabion Fence
At Fenceonline, we offer professional installation services for gabion fences ( Not available now ). We secure the posts (profiles) firmly in concrete to ensure stability. However, the ground must be suitable for this type of fence, as a stone-filled gabion is very heavy. While we do not fill the gabions, this can be done manually or with a small crane.
Important: Fill the gabion evenly, gradually and carefully to prevent sagging or instability.
