If you are handy and like working with your hands, it is possible to install your own Metal fencing. For a detailed step by step plan, you can consult our manual for installing Twin wire mesh fence, but to help you get started, here is a clear overview for installing a Twin wire mesh fence yourself:
- Preparation: Level the ground and make enough work space. Determine the starting point of your Metal fencing, which is essential for consistency in dimensions. Use the center to center measurement* to determine the distance between the posts, with each fence panel overlapping approximately 1 cm per post.
- Setting out: Stretch a wire between pickets along the line where the Metal fencing is to come. Decide on the placement of the cover plates and the direction of the posts, ideally with the bolts not on the outside.
- Installing the posts: Dig or drill the first hole (30 x 30 cm) and place the first post level and tight against the tensioned wire. Make sure the post is at least 5 cm above ground level and use quick setting concrete for stability, especially for fences higher than 1 meter. Repeat this for each post and allow the concrete to harden properly.
- Installing the fence: Carefully measure the distance for the next hole, place the second post and attach the fence to the mounting blocks. Make sure everything is level and adjust if necessary. Attach the fence to the first post with bolts and place the cover plate.
- Finishing: After placing the first fence, carefully measure the distance for the rest of the posts. Hang the fences one by one and secure them with the bolts. Finish with the cover plates and the Allen key. Place the caps on the posts.
